Digiscoping involves adding an attachment to a camera in order to view and photograph from a distance without the need for expensive and cumbersome telephoto lenses. They essentially combine a telescope and digital camera to create stunning images. This style is very popular with wildlife photographers due to the distance they can keep while retaining a good image.
One reason that wildlife photographs love this set up is that you can easily take continuous shots, with full control over the image results while being focused well onto your subject. Once you get into the swing of it, digiscoping is actually quite simple. Practice is very important and you should know what you’re doing to some extend before venturing out on location. Using birds in your area are a great way to practice – or even with objects that do not move.
You’ll be able to get used to focusing and maneuvering the digiscope while getting some great beginner shots.
