The Nikon versus Canon Debate Digital Camera Products
When it comes to digital photography, Nikon and Canon are the two top players. You’ll find fans of both tend to firmly disagree with the positive aspects of the other. This is very much like the PC vs. Mac debate and it is not entirely based on function. However there are definitely some key differences between Nikon and Canon that are worth considering.
Historically, Nikon has been a more professional brand, while Canon has focused on the consumer. This has changed in recent years. The following four cameras are compared to see the highlights of each, with two from Nikon and two from Canon.
Nikon D40
This camera is Nikon’s entry level offering. For the camera with the lowest features in their range, it packs a big punch. It’s not the fastest camera available but it’s a good general camera and introductory option. It gives you wireless options with accessories and inbuilt software for photo editing inside the camera itself.
Canon EOS Digital Rebel Xsi
This is the next step up. While it’s officially the direct competitor of the D40 it really offers just that little bit more than the Nikon. One of the biggest bonuses with this camera is that it offers an inbuilt cleaning system, which makes it easier to keep clean. It offers all the features of the D40 with a few extras added on top, including a larger MP count.
Nikon D90
This product attempts to cover the major points from the Canon above, and increases to 12.3MP and a larger screen. It’s also really good for shooting video and offers a number of options in this area. As an enthusiast camera, this is ideal and it’ll let you have some of the function of a compact camera with auto and video modes.
Canon EOS 40D
This camera is perfect for the outdoors type. It’s been built to withstand temperature and environmental concerns and will offer you an option to shoot stunning fast moving shots. You’ll also find that it cleans itself and has a stabilizer option in the included lenses.
