Capturing Fantastic Photographs – Digital SLR Cameras

When trying to capture action shots, it’s important to adjust settings to fit the environment and photos you’re about to take. For example, using continuous functions or similar will allow auto focusing to occur effectively and without too much room for error. If format and function don’t match then the results will be very disappointing.

It is also easier to use the automatic focus option if you don’t have to be too far away from the action. The best way to control this is to be able to read the action you’re photographing and pre-empt the next moves. This will allow you to be ready and waiting and in position rather than trying to follow people with the lens as they move.

You’ll be all set up and in position to get the shot as soon as they come into frame.
Just be careful when using automatic focusing that it is working when you are using continuous shooting. Sometimes these shots will end up blurred as the focus needs to be re-attained before each shot and it may not effectively do this.

If you’re interested in using automatic focusing for quiet, regular photography it is much easier. One tip is to use a tripod or something similar to steady your position. You can also take your time to set up the shot exactly as you want it to appear, rather than being limited by what is happening in the moment.

Generally when a person is the subject the focus point to use is the eyes. They can really connect a viewer to the subject and create an emotive response to your work. Also consider the orientation of your camera.

The sensor is usually vertically aligned and so if you think that your subject would be best suited to horizontal or the contrasting properties appear horizontal, turn your camera to suit. Focus is very important when taking good quality photographs and using the options available to you, you’ll be able to get a fabulous shot no matter what the situation.
