Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras

For zoom or long-distance photography this lens is the perfect addition for your Canon DSLR. It has a pretty decent range on it and if sudden action is just a few feet away it’ll still be OK to use and produce a quality picture.

One of the best inclusions is that it carries the image stabilization technology within the lens. Personally this is a major advantage because the more you zoom the harder it can be to get a stable, clear shot. This lens lets you do it and your images will be clear and crisp – exactly how you need them to be, and a shaky hand won’t let you down.

If you’re comfortable with your skills in stabilizing a lens then you also have the ability to turn it off if you need to, although it doesn’t make any major battery differences. Losing fewer photos due to user error (or photographers shake) means that you’ll be using less of the battery anyway. It’s a top-class performer and beats out the competition easily.

The components inside the lens casing are really high quality and it’ll produce some amazing scenes. It’s not too heavy or substantial in size which allows greater mobility for the photographer and this is important.

Canon Deluxe Photo Backpack 200EG for Canon EOS SLR Cameras (Black with Green Accent)

Canon Deluxe Photo Backpack 200EG for Canon EOS SLR Cameras (Black with Green Accent)

Canon Deluxe Photo Backpack 200EG for Canon EOS SLR Cameras (Black with Green Accent)

This has got to be one of the most convenient products on the market for SLR owners. Trying to cart around the DSLR and all your added accessories can be really difficult and the standard camera bag isn’t going to work when you might have a handful of lenses and filters to carry with you, extra batteries and cords and anything else that goes with your camera.

Canon making a backpack is genius. It’s really easy to take with you on location, and if you’re interested in nature photography then it’ll work perfectly as you go hiking – hands are free and clear to support yourself and the bag can be forgotten about until you need it.

Inside it’s got a number of alternative pockets that vary in size depending on what they are commonly needed for. You’ll find space for the body, various lenses and attachments and even a spot for tripods. It keeps everything separated from each other, so you don’t end up with scratches or damage.

It even has mesh pockets on the underside of the flap you close, where you can keep all your memory cards or other supplies without risk of them getting lost. This camera bag is a major improvement on the over-the-shoulder versions that have been on the market for years, and it is really comfortable to wear.

Canon LP-E6 Battery Pack for Canon 5D Mark II Digital SLR

Canon LP-E6 Battery Pack for Canon 5D Mark II Digital SLR

Canon LP-E6 Battery Pack for Canon 5D Mark II Digital SLR

One of the best features of this battery pack by Canon is that there is no recharge memory – you can put them on charge without fully draining them or if it’s an emergency and charging isn’t fully complete it won’t cause any problems with the battery life or level of charge offered.

There is no excuse not to have a second battery available because it’ll double the life of your camera every time you need to use it. Unfortunately this can cause massive problems on commercial shoots and be incredibly inconvenient in personal use, so having a spare available 100% of the time should be as compulsory as taking the cover off the lens!

This battery has really impressive length of life per charge and I find that it’ll let me take a couple thousand photographs each time. This means that I can literally spend all day shooting and I won’t need to stop and change or get caught without any charge. It is really easy to change the battery over and it can be done in seconds.

I would recommend using it privately for the first few charges and letting it run down totally before you charge it up again at first, just to let it ‘warm up’ to the environment, it seems to make a big difference if you do it this way. If you do, you’ll get a long life and fabulous per-charge usage from this little battery no matter what your needs.

Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens

Canon EF 50mm f1.8 II Camera Lens

Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens

This is one of my favorite lenses for my Canon camera. It’s a really useful standard lens option as it’ll take some great close ups, as close as 18 inches, and it works well for landscape style photography too. You don’t feel limited by this lens in the slightest and it finds itself attached to my camera almost constantly.

You can also get heaps of accessories to go with it if you need to, but as a base lens this is fantastic. The image quality and sharpness will impress you, especially considering the price bracket this lens sits in – it’s easily worth more so it’s a major bargain!

It’s also really light so it won’t add much weight to the body which is really convenient. It makes this camera fairly portable as much as a DSLR is at any time. It has a fantastic aperture speed which is really fast and that means your images will capture what you want – none of this half a second to a second lag, losing the moment forever.

This lens is perfect as an every-day lens for your SLR but it’s also perfect for the beginners on the SLR scene, with this lens you can practice your camera skills in a variety of locations and situations and the lens will suit almost any environment, so you can brush up on your skills before changing to more specialized lens options. I love it – it’s my number one standard lens in all conditions.

Nikon ML-L3 Wireless Remote Control for Nikon D40, D40x, D60, D80 & D90 Digital SLR Cameras

Nikon ML-L3 Wireless Remote Control for Nikon D40, D40x, D60, D80 & D90 Digital SLR Cameras

Nikon ML-L3 Wireless Remote Control for Nikon D40, D40x, D60, D80 & D90 Digital SLR Cameras

This remote is a really useful product by Nikon and it works with their entry-mid level cameras, from the D40 up to the D90 models. It’s a really simple design which means it’s really simple to use. In a world of products that are made more complicated than they really need to be it’s a nice change.

The remote is used to trigger the shutter, essentially allowing you to take a photo without needing to be on top of the camera. There are heaps of uses for this and one of my favorites is being able to take photos when I need to be in the photo or for self portrait photography, because you’re not limited to a 10 second timer. You can eliminate the need for rushing in and crossing your fingers that the photo comes out OK and you don’t have to spend hours trying to get a shot with eyes open and face controlled.

With the remote, you get everything into position and line up your camera, and then you take your time arranging yourself or the group of people. When everything is ready to go, you discreetly point and click the button on the remote and you have a great photo.

It’s also been really good for animal photography and wildlife work. I can set up the camera and move away so my presence doesn’t keep wildlife away from the camera and animals tend to act much more naturally. This little button allows me to get out of the way and capture the idea photo with a simple click.
